Summary:
In LEGO City Undercover, Chase McCain is trying to arrest the dangerous Rex Fury who is responsible for the recent crime wave in LEGO City. To do this he goes undercover, exploring the sprawling open-world LEGO City and donning a range of different costumes for special abilities; for example, dressed up as a miner he can utilise dynamite, while becoming a robber lets him pry open doors. The unique properties of the Wii U GamePad controller come into play throughout the hunt for Rex Fury. The humour found in the story, coupled with the vast swathes of content makes Lego City Undercover perfect if you're looking to keep the kids entertained during the holidays, and a good shout for Lego-loving adults.Gamereactor

Reviewer Jeff Cork was impressed with Undercovers storyline, GamePad usage except for the instances in which players must rotate the controller for 360-degree scanning and hub elements. Cork wrote that developer TT Fusion has absolutely nailed the best part of sandbox games.

However, Cork felt that the game could have done a better job with its world so that players could be more motivated to participate in additional missions. Other than citizens involved with Undercovers critical path, you wont come across strangers on the streets in need of help.

Cork wrapped up by noting that LEGO City: Undercover isnt perfect, but I cant think of another Wii U game that Id recommend more. Its the most interesting and highly polished game in TT Games large repertoire, and it fills an important game gap.Nintendo Everything

Lego City Undercover isn't ceaselessly brilliant - open-world games seldom are - but it's a fantastic example of what makes Traveller's Tales and TT Fusion such special developers, and the worst I can say is that it's occasionally only fun. Actually that game looks pretty good, I haven't played a LEGO game since the early star wars ones on the PS2.

Looks nice, but the world SHOULD BE 100% Lego. I noticed that some parts, particularly the vegatations ARE NOT Lego looking. And as my memory serves me correctly, when I was younger I had Lego toys that included Lego Trees.

Lego LOTR was somewhat disappointing because they overdid the studs. Like they thought kids would get bored in between puzzles/combat, so they made sure you would never not be picking up studs. It was just annoying to me.

Guess I'll have to force myself not to care about the pick-ups, because I doubt they'll ever reign it in.

Wish I could get the game though since Lego games are freaking awesome. I just need a Wii-U first.

You know, the coins/currency? You're just wading through them the whole time, and the path is cluttered with breakable objects that spit out gobs of them.

Granted the OCD exacerbates it, but that can't be too rare among video game players.

although if i had kids i would probably buy it for them in a second, they wouldn't know the difference and would get to play an open world gta type thing.
